In their own way, everyone thinks that they’re a genius at one point or another. Whether it’s coming up with the perfect idea in a situation, or feeling like your smarter and more superior to everyone else, everyone has those moments in life. But did you know that there are certain things that can actually determine whether or not you’re a natural born genius? Even if you don’t even think of yourself as smarter than your peers and many of those people you interact with, you might actually be a genius still! If you think that maybe this might be you, here are some clear signs to determine whether or not you’re actually a natural born genius.

Worrying and overthinking things is something that you do often, even if you don’t necessarily mean to. Even though many people would think that a genius would naturally just radiate confidence wherever they go because they’re clearly smarter than those around them, the truth is that they generally second guess themselves on social situations and have tons of anxiety. They’re full of doubt because they know better than most people that there aren’t just black or white answers, and that knowledge is always growing and expanding faster than they can sometimes keep up with it. They’re definitely not nearly as confident as many people would assume.

You don’t only enjoy reading, but you do it as much as you possibly can. Whenever you have spare time in your schedule, you break out a good book and read. I think of Rory Gilmore about this one, as she always had at least one or more books with her at all times for those spare moments where she had some down time from class, work, or her social life. It doesn’t really matter what it is that you’re reading – whether it’s magazines, intellectual articles on something that fascinates you, fiction or nonfiction books, the newspaper, or anything else that really gives you pleasure while reading it. The point is that you’re spending a lot of time reading.

Curiosity, and lots of it. Genius’ are naturally curious people, and they question just about everything if they don’t think that it has enough support backing it or it sounds like it might be a bit fishy. You’re not okay with just letting things go, and you have lots of questions when it comes to all different subjects or situations. This could be you asking more questions during a lecture, looking tons of things up that randomly pop into your head for your own knowledge, performing experiments of any kind just to see what will happen, or anything else that has a lot of curiosity. The sentence “curiosity killed the cat” has probably been said to you on many occasions, but at the same time you don’t really care.

Something that you love to do is playing games that involve challenging your own intelligence. For example, something that you often do would include playing games that involve trivia, word games, or anything that has to do with logic. Like if you keep a book of Soduko boards in your backpack to test yourself when you have free time, or you’ll head over to a local bar or place just to play the trivia games that they generally have a few times a month. Testing your intelligence is a joy to you, and it will also end up expanding your already known knowledge when you’re able to learn new things this way.
